What is CFRP?

The manufacturing process step by step

CFRP production begins with the production of the carbon fibers themselves. The starting point is usually a plastic called polyacrylonitrile (PAN). This is treated at high temperatures in a multi-stage process to form stable carbon fibers.

The prepared materials are then laid layer by layer into the desired shape. Depending on the load, the fibers can be arranged in different directions to achieve maximum stability. This is followed by "curing": The component is hardened in an autoclave under high pressure and temperature. The result is an extremely resilient yet very lightweight product.
