IB MYP or International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme is for students between 11 and 16 years, offering a stimulating and holistic educational framework. It’s a 5-year course that fills the gap between the rigorous IB Diploma Program and the IB Primary Years Programme.

The MYP is different from other models of education as it rests upon a series of significant pillars:

Conceptual Understanding – The MYP prioritises conceptual understanding of any topic rather than memorization. It allows them to connect with broad areas of academic study and use their knowledge in new and unfamiliar contexts. Students explore “impactful ideas” and enduring concepts.

Six Global Contexts – Among them Identities and Relationships and Scientific and Technical Innovation – compose the program framework. These contexts provide students with a lens through which to view current issues, heightening their sense of humanity and common responsibilities to the world.

Approaches to Learning – Educating students to learn is an integral part of the MYP. The ATLs are a set of skills taught and assessed across all topics, like social, communication, self-management, research and thinking skills.

Multidisciplinary Learning – The program gives special stress to making connections among different subjects. Students are required to complete a minimum of one collaboratively planned Interdisciplinary Unit every year in which they address the problem of exploring a theme through the application of knowledge.

Personal Project for MYP students is given in the final year of the program, must carry out this independent, concluding project. Students choose something of their interest, set a goal, create a product and then submit a report describing what they have learned during the process.
